Business Operation

Expansion Potential:

Currently, only a Bed and Breakfast service is offered but there is the potential to offer evening meals and packed lunches. Occasional private parties are catered for by arrangement. This option is not advertised and there is certainly potential to expand this offering. Local groups (e.g. WI and local residents association) have regular events here such as lunches, evening meals and coffee mornings. We believe that there is more demand for this type of function if the facility is marketed.

Occupancy levels have grown every year since the current owners took over although there has been a slight drop in the last financial year mainly caused by the severe winter in 2017/18.

Competition / Market:

There are no large hotels in the town and competition generally consists of a limited number of small privately owned hotels and guest houses plus a small number of public houses offering accommodation. The Croft is one of the largest providers in the town and has regular trade from the vast majority of the main local businesses. The Croft is seen as the prime accommodation provider for business traffic into the town.
