This is a B&B business located in the rolling country a few miles east of St Antonin in the Tarn & Garonne. The original building was probably a priory connected to the nearby Abbaye de Beaulieu as the building dates back to the Middle Ages. Whatever the origin, the current owners have fashioned a cosy and authentic B&B out of the old stones and thick walls.
The main house contains the three guest rooms (one is a family suite) - all with en-suite bathrooms - a lounge with open fireplace and the main kitchen. A feature of the present set-up is the provision of a table d'hôte a few nights a week using local organic produce.
The owners live in their own separate quarters, fashioned out of the barn opposite the house. They have made two lofts - one for living and sleeping, the other for different cultural and craft activities.
Outdoors, there's a vast and unruly garden with a fish pond, veg patch, numerous terraces and patios, brambles and a car-park. There are no near neighbours and pesticides are not used on the surrounding fields (pasture mainly).
This is a classic little B&B business which will suit not-too-ambitious buyers. However, it could also be run as a fairly upmarket gite (the owners continuing to live in the converted barn) ... all it needs is a pool. Hence the modest price.
