This home based vodka brand was started in 2014 and boasts broadly appealing branding that echoes the most widely produced playwright in America, a smooth and stylish character modeled after classic Polish vodkas that can be savored straight or mixed in a variety of cocktails, and a taste that has been recognized with gold and silver medals in independent distilled spirit competitions. A recently redesigned bottle features refined decorations using real gold foil and premium surface etching, resulting in a bottle with impressive shelf presence and exceptional in-hand appeal.
The brand has a strong foundation with bars and liquor stores in Southern California, as well as limited outlets in Nevada and Washington State, with revenues exceeding $125,000 in 2015 and $250,000 in 2016. Since the owner has treated this endeavor as a hobby, only limited time has been devoted to the development of the brand in 2017 and 2018. A new, dedicated and properly funded owner should be able to take this proven brand to the next level and achieve a strong local, regional and national presence either by acting as a sales representative, hiring independent reps or securing formal distribution. The seller has recently secured a distribution license from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control that allows the brand to be sold wholesale throughout California without engaging a distributor.
As currently run, this business does not require the ownership of a distillery, a warehouse or an office. The production and bottling of the vodka is outsourced to a third-party distiller located in Nevada, who also stores the inventory of empty bottles, and inventory of the finished product is stored in a licensed facility, which is also able to deliver the product to the customers. Low production, labor, and operational costs allow this company to remain cost-efficient.
Assets included in the sale are the trademarked name and related trademarks, artwork, goodwill and seller’s product knowledge. Existing inventory, which includes a limited number of cases of 1L bottles (12 bottles per case) and 750ml bottles (6 bottles per case), as well as 15,000 empty 1L bottles and 15,000 empty 750ml bottles, will be sold at cost to the new owner. Seller seeks to retain a minority stake in the business (10%-15%) and will continue to contribute to the brand’s success.
