The company is organized in two profit centers: 1) Design and 2) Procurement.
In the Design portion of the business, the initial agreement with the customer is signed and the conceptual design begins. This is followed by selections, drafting, and the creation of 3D images to support the sale of materials and services. These services are typically charged as a flat fee based on the Scope of Work.
Procurement, on the other hand, includes acquisition of materials and labor on behalf of the customer, and at markups that range from 25% to 75%. It is the larger of the two profit centers.
In addition to Design and Procurement, the company also provides Fulfillment services to complete the jobs and provide a good result for customers. Often, additional sales are realized during the Fulfillment effort.
Clients are identified as prospects after being vetted for project scope, time frame, and value. Once a client is welcomed into the fold, they are treated with first class service. Design meetings are hosted in the company’s modern conference space. Design and selections are made and then the client will typically “go north” while the project is executed.

Most bookkeeping functions are performed in house, while accounting is outsourced. Years of experience have proven this to be the most effective and efficient way to handle these tasks, and to minimize payroll overhead.
Real estate sales are healthy throughout the year but reach a fever pitch in the Winter months (November through May), usually with the intention of remodeling their new property in time for the next “season” as the winter months are known. A typical rhythm developed with sales and design in the winter months and projection execution and fulfillment in the summer months.
The new owner will be able to leverage the unique position of the company, with a big demand and lack of competitors that can effectively focus on the niche (but large) market segment.
People who are forward thinking, affluent, and well educated are drawn to our designs. The demographic includes middle-aged and older clients. They are not first-time home buyers and commonly have at least one other home, and often more. Their tastes tend toward the exclusive and stylish and they expect the better things in life.
Our team understand their typical client and have a track record and experience to meet their needs. Assisting with personal, and sometimes intimate choices can be challenging, but when successfully executed, clients become and remain loyal.
Clients are repeat clients (about 10%), references from previous clients (60%) and walk-in customers in the show-room (30%). The company advertised in the printed media in the past but has reduced this substantially as the deal flow was in the sweet-spot for the current owners meeting the revenue-objectives of between two and three million dollars. The company is also in demand with the important shelter publications in the area. Requests are received regularly for project photographs which results in the best type of publicity.
The owners are prepared to work with the seller to ensure a smooth hand-over for six months.
