One of the few châteaux belonging to the Knights Templar in France has come on to the market. This historic building, dating back to 1125, is currently used as an upmarket guest house ... and sometimes as a "very large gite". It dominates a quiet wine village in the Corbières region of Languedoc, east of Carcassonne.
Like many buildings of this type the château has been renovated and added to over the centuries and it is now worthy of the 21st century: double-glazing, aircon, heated pool, insulation and so on. It boasts 9 bedrooms, of which 5 are en-suite, a spacious kitchen, magnificent dining-room, two lounges, a spa, an office and a gym.
There's a separate two-bedroomed gite in another building and a vast 400m² barn ready for conversion into an events space/seminar room/yoga hall. Like all our properties it is sold furnished and equipped and ready to roll.
Clearly, it is well suited as a B&B but can be let as a 'very large gite' on a weekly basis. Weddings, seminars and cultural activities have all been successfully hosted on site.
