Caremark Care Manager runs half marathon for Cancer Research

25 September 2014

Donna Nicholas, Care Manager with local home care provider, Caremark (Newcastle) recently completed a half marathon, when she ran the 13.1miles in the Great North Run in aid of cancer research.

The achievement was even more marked given that Donna had not been able to do extensive training for the marathon and in fact had spent a week in hospital just two weeks prior to the event!

Donna commented: “It was a very hard 13.1 miles and one of the biggest challenges I have ever faced!  My husband and I were running for cancer research and between us we raised a staggering £500.”

Caremark (Newcastle) provide care and support for people of all ages and abilities who wish to remain living independently and safely at home.  Through offering bespoke care and support services, clients are also enabled to maintain hobbies and leisure activities and access their local communities.

Donna concluded: “The day was really fantastic and we had lots of support and cheering from the crowds of people supporting the runners, which was amazing.  If it wasn’t for them, I don’t think I would have been able to complete the race, so thank you everyone!”
