Retired Hampshire Police Sergeant returns to her home beat to focus on building her eco-friendly business

17 March 2020

With 28 years of working for Hampshire Police, Chandlers Ford based Sandra Reid has swapped her life on the beat for her eco-friendly and ethical domestic housekeeping franchise business, Bright & Beautiful, which she acquired in 2015 and continues to grow at an average yearly rate of 28%.

Retiring from the force last month, Sandra will now be able to take a more active role in her franchise, focusing on the management and strategic direction of the business.  The operational side will continue to be managed by Emma Kelly, and she will take care of the day to day running of the company, as well as managing its 21 professional housekeepers who deliver over 250 hours of eco-friendly cleaning, tidying, laundry and ironing to clients every week.

Celebrating her return to the business, Sandra has kickstarted with the launch of a new Ironing and Laundry Centre for new and existing clients.  This will include both drop offs and collections at their newly expanded premises in Hursley Road, Chandler’s Ford.

Having lived and worked in Hampshire for over three decades, Sandra is also keen to show her support to local charities, including Dementia UK.  On 18th March, she is hosting a tea party to raise money to help dementia specialist nurses to support more families facing dementia.  Client, local businesses, friends and family will be invited to help fundraise, whilst having a cuppa and a slice of cake.

Sandra said: “After working in the police force for the past 28 years, I’m now very eager to get more involved in different aspects of my Bright & Beautiful business.  We have seen some great success in five years – last year it grew by 35% in turnover from the previous year, the office has really expanded both in terms of staff and space, and now the launch of an off-site ironing and laundry service.  I have plans to also launch a ‘Smart Shirt Club’ in the near future aimed at local professionals, so watch this space.

“This year brings lots of changes for both the business and me personally.  Not only am I celebrating our 25-year wedding anniversary with my husband Will, but I have also reached a big milestone in age.  I’m now looking to see how I can promote the business to local organisations and get involved in networking groups … only last week, I relaunched a local ladies networking group. Supporting local charities is high on my agenda too and we will be holding a series of fundraising events throughout the year.  I’m really excited about the future and feel that we are in a great position to grow the business even further across the area.”

The Bright & Beautiful office is based at Hursley Road, Chandlers Ford, SO53 2FW

Based in Chandlers Ford, Bright & Beautiful covers Winchester, Romsey, Stockbridge, Eastleigh, Hursley, Compton, Ampfield, Broughton, Otterbourne and surrounding areas. It is part of a national network of over 65 franchisees building their own local business, creating 850 jobs and delivering more than 150,000 home cleans per year.
