Home Instead Senior Care lands 12th ‘Outstanding’ rating

21 February 2017

Home Instead Senior Care has secured a twelfth ‘outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following the inspection of its Bath and West Wiltshire franchise.

The national homecare franchisor, which provides quality care for older people in their own homes, celebrates this latest outstanding rating with franchise owners Alison and Nick Yeatman, who invested in their territory in 2011.

This new rating puts their franchise in the top one percent of homecare providers across England.

Alison and Nick’s philosophy is simple; to provide a service which enables older people to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible, while improving their quality of life.

The care that their team of dedicated caregivers provides has to pass what they call the ‘mum test’ – the standard of care they would want for their own parents and loved ones.

Alison and Nick believe that their service stands out because of Home Instead’s strong relationship-led care ethos, providing a service which not only looks after their clients’ physical needs, but their social ones as well.

Speaking about this, Nick said: “Our care services are very different, and we take a unique approach. Our clients and their families are at the centre of highly personalised services developed around their specific needs. We match clients to caregivers based on shared interests and care visits are of a minimum one hour.

Nick and Alison set up their franchise after Alison discovered the company through a friend.

Alison said: “I consider myself extremely lucky to have been introduced to Home Instead by a close personal friend who set up the South Warwickshire franchise in 2011.

“The timing coincided with my own personal experience of ensuring my Dad received the level of care he deserved in order for him to remain at home during the final years of his life. Some people are not fortunate enough to have family or friends who can help at difficult times and finding the correct support isn't easy.

“From my own experience I feel very passionate about making a difference, so much so, that it led me to resign from working for a local software company after an incredible 26 years. Not an easy decision to make, but a life changing one!”

Nick added: “I am constantly impressed with the ethos of Home Instead and the passion of all those who work for the company. We have been part of the Home Instead family for more than 5 years now and we are delighted to have achieved a CQC outstanding rating.

“In addition to our fantastic team in Bath, we enjoy an enormous amount of support from within the franchise network and from Home Instead’s national office. They have provided us with help on everything from franchise development and marketing to advice on care quality standards and IT provision. This is what has helped us to get where we are today.”

In the six years since it was founded, the franchise has cared for more than 350 clients, delivering over 100,000 hours of care, and now employs over 90 members of staff.

Debbie Ivanova, Deputy Chief Inspector for Adult Social Care South, said: “Home Instead Senior Care Bath and West Wilts supported people with exceptional care and in innovative ways.

“We were delighted to see how well the service supported people’s social needs to make sure people felt less isolated. The team should be extremely proud of the work they do. I congratulate the staff at Home Instead Senior Care Bath and West Wiltshire for achieving our highest rating.”

Home Instead Senior Care MD Martin Jones said: “The achievement of an outstanding rating from the CQC is testament to the absolute dedication of Nick, Alison and their team to delivering top quality care. It’s fantastic to see Home Instead Bath and West Wiltshire join our ever growing list of ‘outstanding’ franchises and I have no doubt that they will continue to go from strength to strength in the future.”
