90% of the turnover comes from framing pictures, with the balance divided between the sale of pictures, framing accessories and cut mounts. The business has a high percentage of repeat business and also a reputation for framing large pictures. It also specialises in framing memorabilia.
The customer base can be split approximately as follows :
Repeat business 60%
General public 25%
Local artists 5%
Schools 5%
Corporate 5%
The vendor has invested a fair amount into publicity, which includes advertising in local magazines, direct mail shots, PR with local art clubs, and work for the local Chamber of Commerce.
