Bars for Sale
All manner of bar types are listed for sale on BusinessesForSale.com. There are dive bars for sale, karaoke bars for sale, wine bars for sale, bar clubs, saloon bars, cocktail bars, sports bars, bar-restaurants, bar and grills... it’s a diverse sector.
You will buy a bar not just based on what kind of establishment you enjoy socially, but what will suit your attributes and in terms of working hours. For example, dance bars have to open late and involve loud music, so you’ve got to be prepared to live a fairly nocturnal existence and tolerate a noisy working environment. A neighbourhood bar, meanwhile, is great if you’re a people person, as you get to meet people from all walks of life, build a rapport with locals, and the midweek lull will give you a reprieve to socialise while you work. However, a dive bar will consequently be less lucrative than a bar in a touristy location, which will nevertheless offer less respite in terms of quiet periods and be more expensive to buy.
The more experience you have working in bars, or ideally, running them, the better. If you are fairly inexperienced then you might consider a bar franchise or bar tenancy the best option.
Food of course is a significant revenue stream, so you might buy a bar and grill. Bars that serve food as well as drinks make the operation logistically more difficult, but if you have a cooking background and/or culinary flair then a bar restaurant can be a great choice. Food is a useful supplementary income especially in a remote location where you’ll host many designated drivers. If serving meals seems too much to cope with then why not strike a compromise and buy a snack bar rather than a buy a bar and restaurant?
Bars are also characterised by the type of entertainment they feature. There are karaoke bars for example at the wholesome end of the spectrum, and at the other end strip bars and topless bars. Music bars can be crudely divided into bars with a dance floor – or bar clubs – and bars which host live music, or you could have niche venues like salsa bars. The sports bar of course is a hugely popular concept, and one which obviously attracts buyers who enjoy sport themselves.
Bars for sale are also categorised according to the alcohol they specialise in. Wine bars for sale tend to operate in affluent areas and suit entrepreneurs with both the capital to afford such prestigious area codes and the passion and expertise to know which produce to source. The cocktail bar, or cocktail lounge, requires staff to be able to mix a wide range of concoctions, and perhaps even to entertain punters with juggling skills without breaking too many bottles.
Another classification is by the customers who attend, thus you have singles bars, gay bars and cop bars, among others.
