Recent research from web-based business search company BusinessesForSale.com has found that the majority of Britons searching for small-to-medium businesses to buy look for pubs, while the majority of Americans are looking for ‘gas’ stations.
The study, which analysed over 20,000 enquiries sent by British and American business buyers between April and June revealed that over 9.5% of all enquiries in the UK went to pubs, followed by childcare and nurseries (8%), post offices (6.5%), guest houses (6.1%), convenience stores (6%), cafes and diners (5.9%), hotels (5.6%) and newsagents (5.2%).
In the US, over 8.2% of all enquiries from buyers went to sellers of gas stations, followed by convenience stores (6%), auto repair (4.7%), restaurants (4.5%) and coin-op laundrys (4%).
