Business description
Established in 1988 by the current owner, the company has built up an enviable reputation for the design manufacture and installation of bespoke, kitchens, bedrooms and furniture tor the top end of the market place. The business has grown steadily over the past 20 years, moving in to their current workshop in 1993.
The business predominately supplies kitchens and bedrooms, with a small amount of furniture manufactured in house. Top quality materials are used in the manufacture. Hardwoods include, Tulip, Pip, Oak, Elm, Ash & Sycamore. Worktops are made mostly from Marble & Granite. The manufacture of furniture is an added benefit which helps complete a finished and matching look.
The business is profitable and easy to run with low overheads and works from simple business principles of , design it - make it – and fit it.
Customer Service:
This small company has earned a good reputation, within its market, for supplying quality, yet competitive hand crafted product. They continue to deliver the job on time to the specifications demanded by their discerning customers
Because they design and manufacture within their own workshop customers are keen for them to offer a complete service which includes furniture to match. They also supply Aga’s and other kitchen appliances and can arrange for both plumbing and electrical work to be carried out by recommended sub contractors. .
Employees: As well as the owner, who designs, quotes and helps with the day to day manufacture and fitting, there are two other fully skilled cabinet makers employed.
Relocatable: This business can be relocated.
Location
The business runs from a circa 2,400 sq. ft workshop with a small adjacent office and adequate car parking
The owner is willing to either rent the property for £12,000 per annum with rates of circa £1,200 per annum. Alternatively he is willing to listen to offers for the freehold property of circa £125,000.
Expansion potential
The volume of business from a growing customer database has increased such that it has become impractical to operate in its current form. To continue its growth, and to provide a high level of service to its clients, additional resources are required. At present the current owner, runs all aspects of the business, and cash flow is his major problem.
Ideally, the company would either expand its current workshop, as there is room to expand by circa, another third in size. Or it could move to an out of town industrial unit.
The company has a regular three monthly, work in progress order book, but there is huge potential to grow in this affluent area.
Ideally placed within two major cities, the business would definitely benefit from a fully fitted sales showroom
Competition / Market
All of the work comes in from word of mouth recommendation.
The owner realises that a web site would be a welcome addition to the business and would generate new sales leads
Support & training
He would be happy to stay on within the business either full time or for a shorter period.
Reasons for selling
For personal reasons the owner needs a cash injection into the company to take it forward.
