Business description
This business was established in 2004 by its present owners. They decided to enter the market and use the skills and knowledge they have aquired over many years trading in the niche market sector of violins and their accessories. The company has a policy of only marketing products directly associated with the “violin family”. These are encompassed in a comprehensive mail order catalogue.
They therefore sell violins, violas, cellos and double basse’s to a database of fifteen thousand registered customers. This extensive client bank is made up of private individuals, teachers, schools, professional musicians, military bands, orchestras and many more.
Items are selected from a comprehensive catalogue and orders are placed by phone, fax or e mail. They are despatched within twenty four hours of receipt.
Stock is purchased from a number of high quality suppliers with the majority being based in the UK, Germany and France. Key brands include Gewa, Sound Post, Cremona and Barnes & Mullins.

Customer Service:

One of the main reasons for the company’s success is the level of personal attention given to each and every purchaser. A good level of product knowledge facilitates sound advice and there is a high level of repeat business following the initial contact.

Key Strengths:

The business holds excellent levels of stock that enables a twenty-four hour turn round
The company has minimal borrowings
Strong client base

Employees: There are presently three people who run the business. Two people could easily run the company.

Location
The premises would be available to rent if required. They consist of a general office / admin area, several storage rooms and two small music rooms for those wishing to try instruments prior to purchasing. There is ample on street parking. The rent is fixed at £400.000 per month

Expansion potential
There is a great opportunity here to grow this business by developing the web site into a fully optimised site with the ability to purchase on line. This would potentially open up many other European markets and drive revenue and profitability to higher levels. In addition a new owner may elect to have a high street presence to service those customers who prefer to “physically” call and purchase individual items.

Competition / Market
The business has a web site that is constantly being updated and reviewed. The comprehensive catalogue contains thousands of associated products and this is sent out to the client base on a regular basis.

Support & training
This team would very much like to see the company move forward through its next logical growth and expansion curve. As such they are more than willing to make sure that a new owner receives a comprehensive and professional handover for a period to be agreed as part of the overall negotiations.

Reasons for selling
Having driven the business to its present level the partners wish to concentrate their efforts on developing a property portfolio.
