Parcel Plus - Pack and Ship Franchise

How is Parcel Plus Different from Other Pack and Ship Franchises?

A Parcel Plus pack and ship franchise is an ideal way to invest in your community by providing a solutions-based business. A growing number of Americans own home-based businesses. This creates the opportunity for private mail boxes, packing, shipping, copying, faxing and notary services. Along with the retail product offerings of a Parcel Plus, your new business venture becomes even more attractive.

When you take the steps to open a Parcel Plus in your community, you are given the freedom to build your own business, along with access to the resources needed to grow your franchise.

As with most businesses, location is the key to growing your Parcel Plus franchise. Ideally, your franchise should be located in a large shopping center close to other local high traffic shopping venues. A location that is close to other small to medium-sized businesses would generate more walk-in traffic for your Parcel Plus franchise.

Need help with selecting the perfect location for your Parcel Plus? Our dedicated team of experts at the International Center for Entrepreneurial Development (ICED) will assist you with demographic research, SIC code analysis and projected population growth patterns to find a location that’s right for you.

How do I Finance My Parcel Plus Franchise?

Your total investment to open a Parcel Plus franchise ranges between $152,220 and $198,395; this includes one year’s working capital. Three major variables determine your total investment:

Location – It costs more to do business in Boston than in Laredo, Texas, for example. Although, in smaller, more rural areas, new owners may require more working capital until they begin to see a significant profit.
Size – Our recommendation is that your Parcel Plus space range from 1,000 to 1,500 square feet.
Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment – How much of each of these will you need for your Parcel Plus? Other variables could include leasehold improvements and other build-out expenses.

The initial fee for your new Parcel Plus franchise, is $52,000. You have two options for financing the balance:

Conventional Bank Loan – Based on the cumulative assets of the borrower, the current interest rate and loan period, a loan package may or may not be required.
Small Business Administration (SBA) Loan – The assets of the borrower are not as critical with this type of loan. Though the interest rate may be higher, SBA loans often offer longer amortization periods. A loan package is required.

What Kind of Ongoing Support Will I Receive?

One of our most important functions is the initial and ongoing support and training we offer to our Parcel Plus center owners. As mentioned earlier, training begins even before your arrival at Northwest Forest through pre-training materials. Support continues with trainer visits in the field, center start-up materials and a success library, which includes books and video resources.

Training is maintained through weekend seminars, weekly fax updates, monthly publications, technical bulletins and monthly support calls. All correspondence is recorded in a database to allow any support member to view your call history. This ongoing record is our way of insuring timely, continuous support.

Pre-Opening Support – This phase of ownership includes site search, with market analysis, a visit to your market area, space planning and layout, and analysis of your lease agreement. If needed, we will also assist you in securing financing.

Opening Support – We provide Parcel Plus owners with an initial mailing list, printed promotional items and direct mail services. In addition, once you open your pack and ship business, we will visit your site to assist you with building the business. At this time we will evaluate your systems and procedures, address any financial statement issues, and assess your progression compared to the opening plan.

Ongoing Support – Workshops and seminars at Northwest Forest are held throughout the year. Review and analysis of financial statements, batch purchasing contracts, annual conference with trade show, technical support, new equipment evaluation, computer support…this is just a sampling of what you’ll receive when you open your new Parcel Plus franchise.
