Kitchen & Bedroom Transformations offers a
complete refurbishment service, transforming an old kitchen or
bedroom by fitting new doors, drawer fronts and worktops at a
fraction of the cost of a new kitchen or bedroom. Customers
can save up to 70% compared to the cost of a new top-end kitchen
when using our “transformation” service. Or, if
the customer prefers a brand new kitchen, we can offer them a
complete new, luxury fitted kitchen at savings of up to 30% because
we buy direct from the factory.
In the current economic climate, many people are
deciding to “improve rather than move”. The
housing market may be slowing down but the home improvement market
is growing as people decide to stay put and instead upgrade their
existing kitchen or bedroom. Customers want to not only be
able to enjoy their new fitted kitchen or stylish fitted bedroom
for themselves, but also to add value to their homes for when the
time does come to sell. Customers are focusing more and more on how
they can add value to their home with the minimum of cost and a
“transformation” is the perfect answer because they get
a brand new look for their kitchen at a saving up to 70% compared
with the cost of a complete new fitted kitchen.
The Market
The market in made-to-measure replacement kitchen
and bedroom doors is a very lucrative one and, with our help, much
easier to enter than the “full kitchens” market. We
think it is the perfect start-up business to generate good profits
and allow you to ease into the even more lucrative and fascinating
fitted kitchen and fitted bedroom industry as you become more
experienced and gather your team around you. Dealing with smaller
refurbishment jobs initially has two main advantages: the jobs
themselves are simpler, so there is less to go wrong whilst you
build up your experience and knowledge; and the jobs are completed
quickly, which means you get paid more quickly and this improves
your cashflow.

Once you have progressed to offering full
kitchens and bedrooms as well as refurbishments, you will be able
to offer your customers the best of both worlds: a complete
refurbishment service, transforming an old kitchen or bedroom by
fitting new made-to-measure doors, drawer fronts and worktops at a
fraction of the cost of a new one, or, if your customers
don’t want to keep their old cabinets, or the cabinets are
just in too poor condition, they can have a brand new, luxury
kitchen or fitted bedroom.
It is this ability to offer both options to
our customers which sets us apart from other “cheap and
cheerful” competitors who only offer replacement doors (not
complete kitchens) and often have a much more limited ranges of
doors. So, whatever the customer wants or needs, we can offer it,
together with impartial advice about which is the best option for
them.
Our Local Showroom
Approach
Although you can usually start trading from home,
Kitchen & Bedroom Transformations is committed to building a
network of local showrooms and you will therefore need to move into
a showroom within 12 months. Not an expensive one, but in a
secondary position where customers can visit, there is easy parking
and where you can display your products and store goods which are
awaiting fitting.
A local showroom creates both prestige for you
and increased confidence for the customer because they know that
you are a reputable and well-established business, not just a
“man with a van” who might never be seen again after
the job is finished! Most importantly of all, our experience
has shown that a showroom significantly increases the sales levels
of our franchisees.
Training and Support
All our franchisees attend an initial one week
training course which covers the following:
- The "transformation" process
- New kitchen and bedroom design and
planning
- Sales techniques and quoting
- Dealing with customers
- Advertising and marketing
- Fitting (although you will not be doing the
fitting yourself, you will need to know what your fitters should be
doing)
- Running your own business
- Legal issues which affect your
business
In addition, we provide separate training
(usually on a one-to-one basis) on how to use the various software
packages included in the Franchise Package, including the CAD
design program.
After the initial training program, further
training is tailored to the needs of each franchisee and is carried
out either during our visits to you, or at our offices. We provide
on-going support to our franchisees through telephone, email,
newsletters and site visits.
We also assist our franchisees in identifying
suitable showroom premises and in designing the layout of their
showroom.
We will make sure you know exactly what you
should be doing at all stages of your business development and
checking that you are keeping on track.
Financial Information
At £18,950 plus VAT, our Franchisee Fee is
competitively priced. We are not trying to make a profit from
selling you a franchise, but looking to build a long term,
profitable partnership for us both.
You will also need working capital and/or an
overdraft of approximately £10,000 to get you
started.
When you are ready to move into a showroom you
will need some additional funding to allow you to refurbish the
showroom (if required), install a few small kitchen or bedroom
displays, and to purchase basic office equipment like a computer,
desk, chairs, etc. The amount required for this will vary depending
on the showroom but you should allow approximately
£10,000.
In total, you will need approximately
£40-50,000 (including the franchise fee), although not all of
this is required at the start unless you intend to trade from a
showroom immediately. Part of this funding may be in the form of a
bank loan and/or overdraft facilities – it does not all have
to be in cash – and we help you with the process of obtaining
funding if required.

bedroom) including those required to fit out the showroom and
smaller sample sizes for taking to the customer’s
home
- sign-writing for the shop front and for your
company van
- a full set of stationery printed with the
company logo
- specialist tools for your fitters
- accounts software to keep your books
- access to our bespoke company database to help
you track and manage your customer enquiries
- state of the art CAD package to draw plans for
new kitchens and bedrooms amd SAGE software for your
accounts
- full training and support

included in the Comprehensive Information Pack which we will make
available to you when we meet. This will also include some Profit
and Loss illustrations which will help you put together your own
business plan.
Who's Ideal for Us

What kind of franchisees are we looking
for?
We are looking for independent, self-motivated
people who want to be their own boss, but who at the same time
would like to be guided by the expertise and experience we have
developed in this business, rather than just “going it
alone”.
Above all you must be outgoing (and enjoy dealing
with the public), positive minded and have a desire to become a
successful local businessman/woman and to succeed in your new
venture.
High pressure selling skills are not required,
nor is this something we teach or encourage. Our business is about
providing the customer with the right combination of high quality
kitchens or bedrooms and competitive prices which means that, with
the right presentation, the products sell themselves and there is
no need for pressure selling techniques.
You do not need any prior experience of the
kitchen or bedroom business as full training will be given.
However, some DIY knowledge would be useful as this will help you
when dealing with your fitters. You will need to be computer
literate as you will be using a computer to produce quotations and
correspondence, to access the company’s on-line customer
database and to design new kitchens and bedrooms using the CAD
design software.
Finally, people management and organizations
skills will be important for your new business. As your business
develops and grows you will employ other members of staff to help
you, particularly once you move into a showroom, and you also will
need to be able to efficiently project manage the ordering and
fitting of customers’ kitchens and bedrooms.
We particularly welcome prospective franchisees
whose partners are keen to get involved in the business too. As you
can see from the description above, this is more than a “one
man” (or woman) franchise and we have found that husband and
wife teams have worked very successfully, often with one taking
charge of the showroom whilst the other concentrates on the sales
side i.e. going out to see customers in their homes.
