sectors. Every day our 100-strong branch network provides
drivers and distribution workers to a wide variety of customers
ranging from international hauliers and major retailers to builders
merchants, parcel delivery companies and local
authorities.
Now established for 25 years, our success is based
upon a proven franchise formula which combines a recognised brand
name, well-developed business systems and ongoing support with the
ambition and self-motivation of local owner-operators.
2007/08 was a record year for Driver
Hire with our top 60 franchisees each achieving sales of over
£ ½ million and no less than 24 reaching the coveted
£1m milestone. Over one third of our network enjoyed
individual record trading weeks.
We are full members of the British Franchise
Association and in four of the last five years we have been
finalists in the bfa’s prestigious “Franchisor of the
Year” competition, winning the award outright in 2006.
This followed on from our success in winning the 2004
“Franchisee of the Year”
competition.
Not only that, our drivers are also recognized as
best in class, sweeping the board in the Recruitment and Employment
Confederation’s “Agency Driver of the Year”
awards in each of the last three years. In 2008 one of our
drivers also went on to win the REC’s One in a Million
“Temp of the Year” award. Our commitment to
quality and service is underpinned by our ISO 9002 and Investors in
People accreditation.
OUR
MARKET
The UK market for temporary drivers alone is
estimated to be worth over £2bn and growing. This is
largely as a result of the ever-increasing volume of goods being
moved by road, the massive growth in home deliveries (on-line
transactions now account for 15% of all retail spending) and
customer demands for a flexible workforce solution. Just
stand by the side of any busy road and note the volume and
diversity of commercial vehicles, ranging from articulated trucks
through to parcel delivery vans. Every single one is owned or
operated by a current or potential customer of Driver Hire and at
some time or another most of them will need a driver from
us.
But our business isn’t limited just to the
supply of temporary drivers – we offer a wide variety
of staffing solutions to our customers in the logistics sector,
ranging from permanent appointments of managerial and technical
personnel to non-driving staff including warehouse and despatch
workers.

THE NEXT
STEP
We can offer a number of excellent franchise
opportunities across the UK. Some of these are franchise
re-sales i.e established businesses offering an income stream
and cash flow from Day 1. Others are start-up franchises in
newly-released territories created by the increased demand for our
services. Entry-level investment is minimum £35k and
re-sale investment levels range from £40,000 to £500,000
plus, depend upon the trading record, sales and profitability of
the individual business. Funding of up to 70% is available
from the major banks, subject to status.
