Advent Business Sales have been instructed to offer for sale this extremely well established business.
Founded in 1985, our client has been very successful in the design and manufacture of equipment mainly involving wire wound products. Initial activity was the design and manufacture of equipment to process miniature electric motors used predominately in the aerospace industry. The impact of this has been significant due to vastly improved production output and, as importantly, the de-skilling of the previously manual input. This equipment has been supplied to companies throughout the world and, given adequate sale input, could be expanded further. Due to the physical size of the product involved, this equipment is usually bench-top mounted.
Other products, again usually allied to the aerospace industry, include special insulating equipment, coil winding equipment and coil inserting equipment to satisfy a need where the production requirement is low but high in variety. This necessitates high flexibility and rapid change over times in order to justify the mechanisation option. Almost all aerospace applications fall within this category. In addition to stator processing equipment, the vendor has developed and manufactures automatic rotor winding machines. These again, have been supplied throughout the world.
In addition to this, our client, from time to time, has become engaged in special projects, some of which are still very much ongoing. One particular project is the Axial Airgap Motor. This motor concept, although not new, has been restricted due mainly to the need for mechanisation for it’s manufacture. Our client has developed and manufactured production equipment for this motor type, the first ever in the world. There has been significant interest in this product, the most interest coming from the hybrid vehicle sector. Further advancement in this field
has been restricted by the size of the vendors operation; the potential is on-going.
All of the many, many drawings are on paper and would, benefit from being transferred to the Auto Cad system. A substantial usage of a sub-contract manufacturing system is also employed here. This could easily be transferred to in-house production if deemed to be necessary, with the exception of EDM wire erosion where the machine costs could not be justified.
The acquisition of the premier precision engineering business could suit an existing major company seeking to bolt onto a well established business.
