Puddle clay is specialist engineering clay primarily used for the lagging of reservoirs, lakes, canals and even garden ponds. In addition, it is also used in the manufacture of specialised bricks and pipes.

The quality of the puddle clay is such that the business is now the preferred supplier to British Waterways throughout the UK.

A series of boreholes have been drilled around the site to establish the possible quantity of puddle clay and its composition. Following the results of the samples taken it has been calculated that a minimum quantity of circa 4.22 million tonnes of puddle clay is on site and there could be in excess of 10 million tonnes. Full geo-test results will be made available to interested parties.

The minimum sale price of the puddle clay is £8 per tonne ex-works.

The Ashby-De-La-Zouch canal runs by the site, which currently has 18 boats moored at an annual fee of circa £1,000 per boat. Permission has been granted for a 100 berth marina on the farm with access from the canal. The marina would be constructed by extending 2 of the sites current fishing lakes.
