The Company publishes two local monthly magazines: one a tabloid format, events-oriented magazine distributed with a seasonally adjusted demand-based controlled circulation of approximately 15,000; the other, a high-end glossy-stock, four-color arts and culture publication is direct-mailed to the city’s most affluent households (top 5%).
Founded in 1982, the Company is well established, and has a long track record of profitable operation. The acquisition of the arts and culture magazine in early 2007 has further enhanced the reputation and growth prospects for this publisher.
The primary owner is not particularly active in the day-to-day sales of advertising and handles only a part of the general management and layout of the magazines. A more active, owner-operator might be able to enhance the success of the publications, growing advertising revenue and circulation. For an active owner there would be many ways to expand this business and exploit the very successful and proven business concept that has been developed.
