Turn-key escorted adventure travel business specializing in Central and South America. Business has grown to have presence in Guatemala, Peru , Bolivia, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Galapagos Islands, Venezuela. Company uses local guides and drivers to escort groups of 8-16 travelers for 16-18 day adventure trips. Virtually no overhead. Excellent home based business that can be located literally anywhere. Owner does not need to speak Spanish in order to operate this business.

Well established relationship with guides in Peru, Bolivia and Costa Rica to the extent that owner does not need to go on the trip with the travelers. The guides in place would remain with sale of the company and be glad to accept more trips. Expansion into Patagonia, Argentina, Venezuela would be another opportunity to expand the business.Each guide works with in-country library of references to heighten the experience of the traveler.

It is helpful but not imperative that owner speak Spanish. All guides are fluent in English and can conduct all tours and planning in English.

Owner started in 1997 as leading geology students to Guatemala to study geological formations and grew organically to larger customer base and additional countries. Selling point to Rutahsa tours is the amount of archaeology, natural wonders and ancient history as well as ‘road less traveled’ sights along the way. By limiting tours to smaller numbers, the traveler has the opportunity to have more one on one interaction with the guide, see more sights and have more experiences than if with a larger group.

Currently doing no marketing other than website. Maintains database of 860 names, and 27% of data base has been on multiple trips with Rutahsa, which speaks to a highly loyal customer base. Opportunity to do more business would be to plan more trips, offer additional locations. Additional opportunity also exists with implementation of strong marketing plan, targeting adventure travelers.

Reason for Sale: Retirement. Current owner and his wife have been leading 4 trips a year, but opportunity and guide structure is established for many, many more trips per year. Only going on 4 trips per year now because that is all the owner wants to do.
