The business was established by the current owner in May 2000. The vendor had previously operated a similar business successfully in South Africa from 1994 until immigrating to Australia. The business in South Africa is still running and an association between the two companies still exists and will continue if required by the new owner.
The business has an associate office in South Korea which has been running since 2001.
Operations:
There are two distinct sections of the business:
• Inbound
• Outbound
The inbound program works with Australian families bringing au pairs to Australia from countries where a visa agreement exists with Australia, and the company has a relationship with an associate office which recruits and screens all applicants.
The outbound program recruits young people mainly from Australia and New Zealand to be au pairs, mothers’ help or qualified nannies in many countries. A full list is included in the business report.
The business currently has 61 overseas associate partners in various parts of the world, the majority of which have been long term associates. Obviously a new owner will introduced to all business associates to ensure a smooth continuation of the service provided.
This program is also run for young people from other countries where relevant visas can be obtained.
Operational procedures are more fully described in the business report.
In addition to the childcare program, the business also provides an English tutoring program to Italian, Spanish and French families or business people, English tutor to families in China and a Work program to Russia for qualified and highly experienced nannies.
Most outbound enquiries come from the website, which provides applicants with an enquiry form. On average 10 to 15 enquiries are received every day.
The Business operates an au pair online course. The cost of the course is only $110 and easily controlled with a database. The course is undertaken by both people in Australia and overseas, and this would appear to be a viable growth area.
The company uses an integrated and effective VOIP communication system which operates through the computers. Call costs for both mobile and landline are consequently very low. The system also lends itself to efficient use of the existing telephone numbers if the business relocates.
A new website is currently being developed by a local company, which will feature a better content management system and will also enable the upload new pages and photographs without IT support.
The website is fully interactive, enabling potential users to submit their applications online, speeding up the process. A presence on Facebook and Twitter and other social websites is currently being implemented.
We presently advertise our services to families in the Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane areas, and have been working with the same organisation for many years, using print advertising in Melbourne Child, Sydney Child and Brisbane Child Magazines. Google Adwords is utilised and is an effective medium for families searching the internet. In this case enquiries are received from all over Australia. The business provides aupairs to families no matter where they live so it could be in cities, towns, country towns both large and small, semi rural areas or families living on farms.
Full information and detailed training will be provided as to the processes of inbound and outbound programs from start to finish, including information for each outbound country, information to families and information about visas. All the information presently on the computers that has to do with procuring and servicing the company business will be made available to the new owner.
Expansion opportunities are enormous and franchising is a real opportunity, should the new owner wish to expand rapidly.
