The company is a five year old winery, opening to the public in September, 2002. Every wine produced owns at least two international awards, no one wine has been singled out as a specialty by the winery, the media, or its customers. Both whites and reds are strong sellers and six or seven varieties are regularly sold out each year before the next bottling can be released. French vinifera wines produced are Pinot Gris, Viognier, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Zinfandel plus three off-dry proprietary blends. In addition to the winery facilities, the Company also features a tasting room and a “members only” wine club.

Eighty percent of all sales at the Company are retail sales made from the winery. Five to six hundred people a week visit the tasting room and the wine club currently numbers 1,162 members. Additional sales are generated by wholesale sales to wine shops, restaurants, and not-for-profit charity events, which collectively comprise 15% of the business. The balance can be attributed to custom crush services for smaller growers. The majority of the tasting room visitors come from the Raleigh/Research Triangle/Cary/Durham/Chapel Hill market and the Charlotte/Lake Norman market, both of which have been designated by Wine Business Monthly as two of the fastest growing new wine markets in the US.

• Due to the nature of the wine business, entry into the industry is difficult. Land prices can be expensive and a professional winemaker is necessary who can oversee the growing, harvesting, and aging of the wines. Knowledgeable people are difficult to find and wine is only as good as the grapes that are grown

This commitment is represented in the 1,162 wine club members that have paid a fee to join the Company’s Wine Club and the five to six hundred people, a week, who visit the Company to purchase wine. It should be noted that based on annual sales, each person passing through the tasting room purchases an average of 1.6 bottles of wine
