Advent Business Sales have been instructed to offer for sale this ice cream/yoghurt distributor and manufacturer.

The business was established over 64 years ago with the current vendors in ownership for the past 23 years.

The 3 current partners have reluctantly decided to sell due to their retirement plans. We are informed by the vendors that a generous hand over period is offered and terms of which are negotiable.

The business has provided an excellent return to the vendors. Over the years the vendors have shifted the emphasis from manufacturing to distribution. This has allowed the reduction of overheads by out sourcing and creating more free time for the vendors.

There are essentially two sides to the business, firstly, the company used to manufacture set natural yoghurt. They started this around 10 years ago which also involves the supply of paneer and single cream. Over the past 5 years our client has out sourced this product leading to better purchase prices and more time to concentrate on other aspects of the business.

Yoghurts are also supplied in various sizes for the commercial market.

The customer base includes approximately 76 shops, restaurants and wholesalers.

Recently a new wholesaler has begun to purchase the yoghurt which has significantly increased sales.

The owners still manufacture a small quantity of yoghurt at the farm. No stock is held as all production is essentially work in progress.

The yoghurt side supplies to a very selective customer base within Loughborough, Leicester, Nottingham, Derby, Burton on Trent, Hinckley, Nuneaton and Coventry.

There is huge scope to supply many other new customers within this area for example, only 45 restaurants are currently being supplied.

There is also scope to supply further a field; a new owner with a sales force could increase sales for yoghurts dramatically.

Three chiller vans currently distribute the yoghurts on a regular basis.

The second side of the business is ice cream, which involves the supply of ice creams. Our clients are regularly approached by other ice cream vans to supply them.

It must be noted that the owners are conducting trade in a very relaxed, laid back manner due to their retirement plans.

The business also owns 2 ice cream vans, which frequent schools, residential areas and large markets.

A new owner could easily expand this side of the business with the purchase of more vans and sell directly to the public, which increases the margins terrifically.

Our client also manufactures a unique ice cream product called milk ice which has less than 3% fat. This is freshly made from milk and butter and sold on their own vans. Normal ice cream has a fat content of 15 – 20%. This quality up market product can easily be supplied to restaurants.
The vendor already supplies 45 restaurants with yoghurt, this area provides massive scope together with a range of up market quality ice creams.

At present there is no advertising conducted, all sales are from word of mouth. There is excellent potential for increased sales through a web site, internet marketing and marketing to businesses throughout the region.
