The sailboat was build in France has a replica of a 1900 vintage fishing schooner of the New England coast. Based on plans from Daniel Bombardier, this type of boat is called Spountz 44/40.
This is a very well balanced sailboat that sails nice and is well handled by a minimum of two persons. Top speed under ideal sail conditions is about 8.5 knots with a top motor speed of around 5,5 to six knots.
The boat is currently berthed on the Northwestern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica,where it was used for day charters ever since the current owner brought it from Europe across the Atlantic in 1999.
