Back in 1976 when Tom Parshall purchased Josh's 46th Street Market,
he was thinking about a new name for his enterprise. Several
friends gave him suggestions, but he felt they all lacked
imagination & individuality. He had been reading through the
abstract of the land he purchased, and an unusual name caught his
eye. Back in the late 1800's a women named Prunella Shriek had
owned much of the land in that area. Tom didn't think too much
about it until one day he was browsing through the Baltimore
Library and came across a book titled "Ocean City Love". As he
looked through it, he was thrilled to see Prunella Shriek's name
with a paragraph devoted to her.
The FRACTURED PRUNE® has been an Ocean City, MD landmark for
30 years. It has been a tradition for many donut lovers far and
wide. These donut lovers line up in the early morning, around the
block in the anticipation of creating and tasting their own
creation.
The FRACTURED PRUNE DONUT SHOPPE® is a Specialty shop for
donuts. What makes these just so special is the way they are
created by you. "You create em, we make em!" Our donuts come out
hot and crispy on the outside and light and moist on the inside. We
then take the donuts and dip them in any one of our homemade glazes
of your choice, which you can top with an assortment of delectable
toppings.
These donuts are loved by kids of all ages. There is nothing
sweeter than being able to create and have a HOT DONUT at anytime
of the day.
Many inquiries have been made to expand our locations, so that the
donuts could be more than a tradition for people. They could be an
everyday indulgence.
So with great pride, we have decided to franchise. If you are

Qualifications: To be
considered "Prune Worthy" a franchisee needs: A passion for our
product, a belief that a "Fractured Prune®" donut experience
is absolutely the best. An entrepreneurial spirit, good customer
service skills, positive attitude and must be a hard worker. Plus,
the financial ability to secure the capital needed.
The Fractured Prune franchise fee is $15,000 for the first
1-5,
$20,000 for 6-10, and $25,000 after the tenth.
The monthly royalty fee is 5% + a 1% monthly advertising fee
after
the fifth franchise has opened.
Area development fee for Fractured Prune area development rights is
$7,500 for each Fractured Prune business to be developed after the
1st business (minimum 3).

How much does it cost to start a Fractured Prune®
franchise?
On average it is between $83,900 to $201,750, which includes an
initial franchise fee of between $20,000 - $25,000. Actual
investment will vary depending on whether you are opening an
express type store 600 to 800 square feet or a café type store
800 to 1,200 square feet.
What is included in our Franchise Fee?
a) Complete license of trade name and logo.
b) Assistance in finding a location.
c) Store design and layout.
d) Assistance in acquiring equipment, supplies and inventory.
e) Training
f) Operational support via telephone and e-mail.
How long will the process take once we sign a franchise
contract?
Most stores will open 3 to 5 months after a site is secured.
How much are the on going royalties?
Royalties are equal to 5% of sales.
Is there an advertising fee?
Since we are in the beginning stages of franchising, there will
be no advertising fee until 5 franchises have opened. It will then
be 1% of sales.
Does the Fractured Prune® offer Area Development
opportunities?
Yes, Fractured Prune® is actively seeking franchisees
interested in opening multiple stores over time.
Do I need restaurant or business experience to own a Fractured
Prune® franchise?
Experience is beneficial but not critical. What is more important
is a passion for our product and for customer service.
