Location:
The business is located on Main St. in Telluride, CO. in the Rocky Mountains. The town itself is nestled in the end of a box canyon. The town is basically known as a ski resort town but has built it summer festival season to a point that rivals the ski season for tourist traffic. The area is renowned for its winter beauty but after spending summers here we believe they are even more beautiful than the winter. Wildlife abounds year round.
Premises details:
The business’ facility is approx. 1450 sq.ft., which is roughly divided into five major areas.
1. The first area is 23’ x 23’ it is our gallery area, the wall space is where our local artist hang their work and the center of the floor has 4 triangle ‘kiosk’ each panel approx. 4’x7’ where our moulding sample are on display. An area to the rear of this space contains a 4’x5’ customer work bench.
2. There is a small office space approx. 9’x12’ where desk, file cabinets and computer/printer are held.
3. There is a ‘clean’ area for cutting mats and final assembly takes place. This area is approx. 10’ x 16’. It contains bench mat cutter, a wall mount mat/glass cutter, 36”x48” Drytac Vacuum Press and bench, a rolled paper goods rack and a 4’x 8’ carpeted work bench with matboard, supplies and tool storage underneath.
4. There is a ‘dirty’ room which has doors to close off from the rest of the business when in use. This is where cut/chopping/sanding of moulding and assembly of frames takes place. This area is approx. 10’ x 16’ and in contains Morso guillotine chopper, Cassese underpinner, AMP Mitre sander, tool and supply storage cabinets and a 4’ x 8’ gluing bench. Expansion potential:
Strengths or Unique Characteristics:
1. We have a Main Street Location.
2. Good reputation in the community for quality craftsmanship.
3. Since we don’t actively advertise all of our growth has been through word of mouth and repeated business.

Weaknesses and Possible Remedies:
1. We have gallery space that we currently allow local artist to show their work. If this space were dedicated to more ‘upscale’ or ‘known’ artist the income from this could increase significantly. Selling art has never been our focus nor our forte.
2. It has never been our desire to manage employees. The turn around time for projects has been between 6 – 8 weeks for the past two years due to the work load. Employees could reduce this back log and possible increase incoming business since our back log is a well known fact.
3. Creating ‘pre-made’ standard size frames from cut off excess for walk-in traffic.
4. Carrying posters and prints, again for walk-in traffic.
Competition / Market:
There is a photo studio that offers limited framing in town.
