The menu is always changing, using only the freshest of local produce, seafood, meats etc…. We have one wall as a blackboard, and change the menu depending on the availability and freshness of the food. This works well for us and that way the clients is never told, Sorry, we don’t have that today. And we always get complimented on how fresh all the meals taste.
Some of our dishes include;
Surf ‘n’ Turf; steak with mushroom sauce and king prawns sautéed in garlic and lemon butter, served with rice and vegetables cooked in a light Soya sauce.
Tuna grilled in sesame oil and Soya, served on a garden salad with a side of rice.
Mahi Mahi server with a creamy style pesto dressing topped with mixed crushed nuts, all fillets are 200g
Steak cooked to your taste, covered in a spicy Jalapeño salsa made, fresh in the moment.
King Prawn Brochette (shush kebab) served with your choice of mango-coconut sauce or Piña-coconut sauce, with the choice of two side of; French fries, rice, seasonal salad, sautéed vegetables.
Mongolian style Chicken and vegetable Stir-fry cooked in a sweet chilly sauce with a spicy kick.
Fresh Calamari served in a white wine sauce, served soup style or Fried Tempura style with home-made tartar & caper sauce.
Thai Style Coconut Curry Chicken filet.
Paella, typical dish of Spain, Served in a special heated dish, lobster, tuna, Mahi Mahi, prawns, shell fish and whatever else the client wants on a pizza of turmeric flavored rice.
Kakoda; raw fish marinated (cooked lightly by…) in lemon lime and coconut milk. It’s a Fijian dish and goes down well here as its similar to their typical Cevechi, which we also do.
We also have a full Mexican menu. We specialize in Mexican cusine, we are the only restaurant in town who does Mexican, so this help people seek up out over other places to dine. Because the main clientele are tourists, and they are accustomed to tipical Mexican food, they get a nice surprise to see a Costa Rican twist with all of the Mexican dishes.
Our Mexicana dishes include;
Quesadillas
Nachos
Fish and Chicken Tacos
Burritos, fish, chicken or steak
Fajitas, fish, chicken or steak
Spicy Nacho Salad, fish, chicken or steak
Breakfast is reasonable simple consisting of both typical dishes from the States and Costa Rica;
The Gringo; eggs, toast, bacon & fruit
Tico Tipico; Costa Ricas famous Gallo Pinto, tortillas, natilla, eggs & plantains.
The Key to the restaurant is being sold. This means that if you buy, you will have to sign once to receive everything that the company Zunu’un owns. Some of the things included in the company are;
Telephone line (cellular), this is very important as it is not possible to connect landlines in this area at this time.
Visa line, this will help a lot as the majority of restaurants around us do not accept credit cards.
The company has pre-paid for an advertisement in Zoom mangazine for six months. It is also on-line so people out of the area can see the ad too.
Zunu’un also pre-paid for six months to have a pop-up on the malpaisurfcam.com web site. This is good for people to check out what restaurants are recommended in this area when planning their vacations here.
The company has a brochure and coupon in one. It is out in all the businesses around town. It shows some of specials we do for dinner. Plus you can get a free cocktail if you bring it in with your dinner. This works well to get people in the door. The phone number will be available to do re-printing of this
We also have a beautiful sticker that features the phone number of the restaurant, location and a picture that represents the location! (wave, sunset, birds, flowers etc). This design is also available for re-printing. Information for the graphic designer will be available.
The restaurant is fully furnished with everything you need to run a restaurant;
Two drinks fridges, deep-freezer, large oven, a flat plate grill along with a 4 aliment gas stove, two blenders, plates, cups, spoons, forks, knives, pots, pans, paella dishes, wok, beater, glasses, bowls, condiments, tables, chairs, a beautiful garden, girls and boys bathrooms, shower…..
There is also a well for the water supply. This is extremely helpful as water can be a big problem here in summer especially. The majority of houses and businesses get their water trucked in from out of town. This is very expensive & inconvenient. But this problem is avoided in the restaurant with the well.
The dinning room of the restaurant is 11mts by 8mts, this in not including the bathrooms and the shower.
The kitchen is 4.5mets by 5.8mts.
The rent is $600 a month now, and in high season (December-April) its $800.
