Our client, established in 1987 has been operating since 1995 as a c-corporation in the state of Iowa, specializing in providing fertilizer, crop protection products, seed, application, crop scouting, and agronomy services to the local farming community. Business is conducted locally with a customer base of 100 active accounts consisting of local farmers operating within a 25 mile radius from the company’s headquarters. All of these farmers are in the business of producing corn and soybeans. The company’s 2006 revenues were derived from fertilizer sales (54% of sales), herbicide sales (33%), application services (7%), seed sales (5%), and agronomy service (1%).

Politicians and environmentalist are touting the benefit of ethanol for the US economy, as a solution to the national’s dependency on oil as a fuel source the increasing ethanol production is driving up corn prices to near record highs, causing more farmers to expand their corn production efforts, creating growth opportunities for the company.
